PET Scan Experience

PET stands for positron emission tomography. The PET scan uses a mildly radioactive drug to show up areas of your body where cells are more active than normal. It's used to help diagnose some conditions including cancer. It can also help to find out where and whether cancer has spread.

Make PET Scan appointment

Setting the appointment is only the start! Attending the appointment and following up to completion is also apart of the action.

Arrival & Dressing Room

After you check in with the receptionist you will be called back to get started. Depending upon where your IV will be started for images you might be asked to change from top up.

IV Started

After coming back from the waiting room an IV will be started before testing.

PET Scan machine

Once the wait is over, you'll be called back for testing and placed on the flat surface of the machine for imaging.

Results

Another appointment will be created for results. Once the results are shared, you and your physician should discuss the next step and follow up.
